Celebrating During A Pandemic

It feels like there is a lot going on in the world right now, but really there is just one thing- a pandemic.

It has consumed us and trickled down into every part of our lives. From effecting our jobs, to how we shop, to our social life, home schooling our kids, having us live in economic fear. It has stopped us from seeing loved ones and has us going stir crazy in our homes. It is all consuming.

But many of us still have “celebrations” during this time. We have birthdays, and anniversaries, babies are being born and so on. Many people have had to cancel celebrations such as vacations, family reunions, and even weddings.

Like many, I have a Pandemic Birthday. Of course I was disappointed to cancel my weekend away that was to be my birthday celebration, but I also understand the situation, and know it is so much bigger than me, it's for all of us. I would still have my birthday, but it would just be different. It would be just us, as we are true to our social distancing. It would be a homemade cake and a “fancy” dinner in. It would still be celebrated, just not how I had originally imagined. But I will say that when my birthday was approaching, I was feeling a bit low about it all. Then I received a package, a birthday present, in the mail from my parents. It truly lifted my spirits, it felt more like a real birthday.

I am well aware that the cost many of us will pay for the pandemic is far greater than a birthday that didn’t go as planned, but we are still human, we still need our little joys. We still need to have something that makes us smile and things to look forward to, it gives us hope and optimism that helps us through.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a ceramic artist and I run a small handmade pottery business. Every piece is handmade with love and care and shipped out in my one-person studio by me.

For anyone who has loved ones with celebrations, or if you just need a gift to yourself, I’m offering Free Shipping on all US orders as well as 15% Off your order, all you have to do is use the checkout code: Celebrate

I certainly hope you checkout and support my small business and at the same time put a smile on a loved ones face, but if you don’t find anything from my store, please find another small business that you can help support online.

Sending all of you a ton of love and compassion during this time. Happy Birthday!!! Congratulations!!!

Stay happy and stay healthy, take care of yourselves both physically and emotionally. We will all get through this, you are more resourceful than you think.
