The Playlist of Life

What does your current playlist look like? Is it the same as it was 5, 10, or 15 years ago? Are all the songs the same or just a few? I love every now and then setting my iPod on shuffle and listening to where I have come from, and where I am now. Certain songs are always with me, while others are reserved to be enjoyed only as the memory they bring back.

Life can be like your playlist, are you in the same place you were 5 years ago, doing the same things, having the same conversations, or have you evolved? A little while back I had been accused of “changing.” I was being accused of liking new things, and new music. My natural response was, “Yeah, so what?” Why would I be the same person I was seven years ago? That sounds like a waste of seven years to me. I certainly hope in another seven years I am different than I am today. I believe I am wiser and stronger than I use to be. My hope is to continue on this path. Shouldn’t that be what we are all aiming for?

I believe what my accuser was trying to get across is that I was a different person, which is certainly not the case. I have just grown up, some. I believe each experience we have changes us to a degree - molds us a little bit more.  This is not to say I “forgot where I came from.” Where I came from, is how I got to where I am. For that reason I am grateful for everything in my past, and I look forward to what the future may hold.

So I invite you to look back at your own playlist of life. Have fun remembering those old songs that still move you, and be grateful for the new music that has entered your life. I would love to hear what songs you had a kick out of hearing once more!

If you enjoyed this, or if this resonated with you at all, I ask that you pop on over and take a look at my handmade dinnerware. If you see something you like, or a great gift, please pick it up.
