Goodbyes and Hellos

Many of us naturally feel the order should be hello and then goodbye. But so many times in life we must first say goodbye in order to say hello. We must let go of our past in order to step into our future.

I am moving, which means my pottery studio is also moving. For those who do not know I have my studio in my home basement which allows me to work at night while my children sleep. Every evening I must tuck my girls into bed and say goodbye until tomorrow in order to go downstairs and say hello to clay. And here I am having to say goodbye to my home in order to move on a make space for a new home.

Going through everything, what is needed to bring with and what is not, this is for both memories and possessions. Somethings still and will always have a place with me, other things in life need to find a new home as they will not be coming with.

This move is so much more than just an address change for me; it is also a move towards a new chapter in life. With each box I pack I am saying goodbye to the resistance I have been struggling with in life. With each packed box I am saying hello to my growth as a person, as a potter, as a woman entrepreneur, and most of all, growth as a mother. With saying hello to this growth I also have to say hello to my fears, face them and work with them, not against them. It is from working through our fears that we find the growth and life we truly long for. So goodbye to my old home, you have served me well, and “Hello future, how you doin!”

Great post! I know the move was difficult but you seem to be taking it all in stride.

I’m not sure if I have items still on order or not, maybe some smaller wine cups. If I do are they ready yet if not don’t worry about it, whenever they’re done.
